City of Atwater, Minnesota
The City of Atwater, once the largest village in Kandiyohi County, began its existence as a railroad contractor’s store in the Summer of 1869. It is host to many wonderful organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Lions, Legion Post #375, 4-H Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Atwater Area Historical Society.
Staff with the City of Atwater first approach mapformation staff seeking assistance in the design and installation of a 9-18 hole disc golf course in Centennial Park (something mapformation CEO Derek Tonn does for municipalities in his spare time). And what began as a 12-hole course design quickly expanded into disc golf tee signage and a map of Centennial Park in 2013-2014. Final work (on all fronts) was delivered in June 2014.
