Tourism Map of Savannah, Georgia
This tourist map, produced by mapformation illustrator Michael Karpovage on his own time (no client hiring us to produce the design on their behalf), combines several elements and is a good example of how illustration can be used to promote a high traffic attraction. It depicts Savannah, Georgia's famous Historic District in a classic panoramic birds-eye view. Surrounding the highly detailed illustration are text call-outs explaining unique historical tidbits, factoids, and area attractions. Centered by a stunning logo and nautical design elements, this souvenir poster makes a great memento piece for your office or home.
The Savannah Historic District Illustrated Map was named WINNER of the Best Recreational/ Travel Map in the 40th Annual Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) Map Competition (2012). This highly prestigious award saw mapmakers compete from all over the U.S. and Canada. A copy of his map is in the Library of Congress for cataloging.
