Michael first became aware of mapformation, LLC through a company profile article in the University and College Designers Association's (UCDA's) Designer magazine in January 2005. Michael suggested adding his pictorial-stylized version of 3D birds-eye-view mapping to the mapformation collegiate portfolio and the ball has been rolling steadily along ever since.
Personal Profile:
Michael lives outside Ithaca, NY, as a "virtual" contractor of mapformation, LLC. He currently works as the Graphic Designer for SUNY's Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) in the Office of College Relations. Michael has a strong design and marketing background having worked as an award-winning Art Director in both corporate and ad agency roles serving a multitude of clients in Atlanta, GA and Rochester, NY. He is also a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP).
He launched his freelance venture Jacks River Communications in 1998 to pursue his lifelong love of illustration and mapping. In addition, Michael is a published author-his first fiction novel, /Flashpoint Quebec/, being a military techno-thriller. He is currently working on his second novel is his spare time. Michael was also a volunteer firefighter for five years serving as Incident Safety Officer and a member of the Board of Directors before resigning to pursue his current position at TC3. He was awarded the highest honor of Firefighter of the Year Award in 2003. Michael is an avid reader, a history lover, plays racquetball, is a Buffalo Sabres hockey fan, and most of all enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and boys Jake and Alex.
