Memberships At mapformation, our membership and affiliation with a number of groups and professional associations is the life-blood of our firm's growth and survival strategies. True to Benjamin Franklin's words from over 250 years ago, we essentially have a "Join, or Die" attitude when it comes to our needing to be very active within a variety of places in order to make sure that we are one of the first firms that comes to mind when someone is looking for a provider of design cartography services. |
Organizations that we have chosen to invest our time, effort and marketing resources in order to aid in our long-term sales goals in the past include:
- Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors - International (ACCED-I). Our staff has over ten years of experience on a regional, national and international level, although we are currently only active on a regional level.
- CartoTalk. This is a place where a variety of map designers can go to "compare notes" and talk about opportunities, challenges and trends in various map-making industries.
- Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). At the encouraging of a handful of our clients, mapformation began to explore a variety of opportunities with CCCU beginning in 2005.
- National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR). mapformation first began to exhibit at the NCMPR annual conference in 2005, and it has become one of the best associations for us to generate new business leads.
- North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS). mapformation has been a member of NACIS from 2003-2004 and 2006 to Present. It is a chance to have a little "professional development" and get to know other map-makers in our industry.
- Remote Control Aerial Photography Association (RCAPA). mapformation serves as a friend and corporate partner within the association, and is an active consumer of the photography services of its members.
- Society for College and University Planning (SCUP). mapformation has been a corporate member of SCUP since 2003, exhibiting at two of their annual conferences in Miami and Toronto to date.
- Springfield (Minnesota) Area Chamber of Commerce. Our owner, Derek Tonn, has served on the Board of this organization since 2004 as a business owner in the Springfield area.
- University and College Designers Association (UCDA). mapformation has been active in UCDA on a regional and national level since 2003, both from a "sales" perspective and as a chance for our designers to get a bit of professional development at a number of workshops and lectures.
